Hi, I am Dr. Hayes. I’m a Psychotherapist and Owner of Hayes Medical Integration, LLC.
For almost 30 years, I’ve helped people recover from traumatic experiences who encounter intense emotions, physical reactions, and psychological challenges when trying to survive the long-term impacts on their life.
My passion also extends to working with those who experience difficulties with self-esteem, self-confidence, and self-worth and who are looking for guidance in setting boundaries with others.
I also provide services to those who are embarking on major transitions in their lives who could use just a little help figuring things out.
Individuals that I work with are military service men/women and their dependents, college students, new and expecting mothers and other parents, teachers, police officers, nurses, doctors, and other professionals.
I received dual Bachelor’s degrees simultaneously in Psychology and Justice Studies from NC Wesleyan College while serving active-duty military, a Master’s degree in Human Development Counseling from the University of Illinois, and a Doctoral degree in Developmental Psychology from Capella University.
In my quest for on-going learning, I often attend advance trainings in Internal Family Systems, Perinatal Mental Health, Trauma-Informed Care, Trauma-Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Suicide Prevention and Intervention from world-renowned experts in our field and apply cutting-edge research and evidenced-based practices in my approach to therapy.
Providing psychotherapy and case management services over the years to myriad populations has enhanced my clinical skills. These populations include working with children/adolescents in schools, homes, and military child development centers and after-school programs, adolescent sex offenders at a residential treatment facility, working with adults in jail, homes, community mental health centers, hospitals, and a nursing home. This diverse experience allows me to assist you with recovery from just about any struggle you are facing!
In addition to providing psychotherapy, I also thoroughly enjoy community engagement via speaking topics, such as prioritizing mental health during pregnancy and postpartum, encouraging self-advocating for emotional wellness, preventing the transmission of intergenerational trauma in families, and promoting intentional self-care.
When not working, I am known to catch a flight to submerge my feet in international waters, soak up the sun, and connect with the natives. I also love art museums, live theatre, live music, sunrises and sunsets on the beach, weekly yoga and guided meditation sessions, comedy shows, dancing, writing poetry and books for publication, and hanging out with family and friends and our very playful, affectionate goldendoodle.
